Bad product leadership: Here is something we want you to design. Good product leadership: We believe there is a problem with X, so we want you to figure out how to address it. Great product leadership: Help us understand what our customer's problems are & how to address them.

Dear designers, there is no design tool war, there is not even a battle. Your favorite tool doesn’t matter. What matters is your ability to operate in many tools, not just one. Oh, and don’t bother replying with your bullshit rationale, I simply don’t give a fuck.

I promise not to bombard you with personal photos, but this is a big announcement for us. Our first major release has finally shipped, just 4 days after our originally scheduled launch date, and I have to say he is performing quite well. Introducing Luka Finck.

Myth of hiring Sr designers: “we want them to hit the ground running” No one hits the ground running. Ramp up duration can take up to a year depending on the complexity of the product space is. What defines short ramp up is a growth mindset, not level or years of experience.

If I said it a billion times it will never be enough: The user experience doesn’t end at the edges of the screen. Therefore a UX designer’s job & a UX researcher’s job shouldn’t be limited to what happens on screen, it should take in the entire context & any touchpoints involved.

I see a lot of design content (articles, podcasts, talks, etc) referencing only those at big brand names (e.g. Fortune 500) for quotes & commentary on how they work. Folks, let me be the first to tell you the big companies don’t know any better than you do. Blaze your own path.
