Little weekend prototype: iMessage style card stack. Always love a good reason to dive into @FacebookOrigami and work through visual + interactive puzzles like this. Here’s a bit about how I built it and a link to download ↓
I had way too much fun with @Framer’s new Scroll Transform tool this weekend. It’s just incredible.
I can honestly say I’ve wanted to build site like this for years, but the tech has always gotten in the way. Not any more.

I mean, come on.. here’s a side by side. Some random news site on Safari vs on @arcinternet.
You can’t even see the headline with all the ads and cookie banners!
I think my favorite part of @arcinternet's 5-second previews are these SF Symbols. They add such elegance and structure to the bullet list.
This is such a great use of AI—dynamically mapping a description to a preset symbol.
Who's the magician behind this? @joshm@codeblue87

Was waiting for somebody to point this out. Kinda funny. Apples seems to fluctuate in weight a fair bit. It’s alright, don’t we all 🫠
Now we just need someone to write a thought piece on the hidden meaning behind the weight of Apple marketing typography.
Recently, I’ve been thinking a lot about mental models in interfaces. Specifically, what are effective design techniques to help people understand the “space” of a digital product?
So I wrote about Apple’s approach in iOS! Check it out on @uxdesignccuxdesign.cc/perception-rea…
The interactive layer and the visual layer are decoupled. There’s an invisible carousel of cards that you’re actually scrolling through. The visible stack of cards is entirely separate, animating independently based on scroll position.
Ahhh our old friend. This is a modal dialog. “Modal” is an adjective. There’s such thing as “a modal”.
Is this a nomenclature battle worth fighting? Maybe not.
But once I actually understood “modes” it totally changed the way I think about UI design🤷🏼♂️
UI design world: let’s clear this up once and for all:
“Modal” is when user input goes into an alternate mode. It is _not_ an overlay window.
Better language for an overlay window: “Dialog box” or “Pop-up window.”
(Don’t agree? Context menus are modal but not windows :-)
I’m so interested in Apple Maps vs Google Maps & Apple Music vs Spotify. Apple's UI is unequivocally better IMO, but data/tech issues have caused lasting distrust. Less of an issue with Maps now. All that said, for Transit, I absolutely love @TransitApp 😁
