We spoke to Nancy Halupa, whose been a nurse for 25 yrs: ‘This pandemic broke me. The anxiety of not knowing how many patients I would be bagging because our morgue was full…Every patient that died, I remember their face.’ For the full conversation #TVOTheThread tonight 9pm @tvo

Being poor is expensive. My belongings used to fit in a suitcase & were everything to me. The way those tents were torn down as if they’re garbage & not what keeps one physically safe & protects them from the elements. Imagine how much it took to save up to be able to buy a tent?

Witnessed a heartbreaking moment this afternoon at Shoppers. Two elders asked the pharmacist for a covid test & she told them they could get a RAT at checkout. They said they had done one & there was a faint line. She told them it meant they had covid. They weren't wearing masks.

They appeared to not understand that the faint line meant they probably had covid and they seemed surprised. They both said they weren't feeling well. I was wearing a mask & so was the pharmacist. What does this say about public health that people just don't know what to do?

I was born during a civil war and I don’t say this lightly but the horrors I saw by the time I was 10 would make some of y’all weep. I don’t understand how you can equate freedom & bravery with being asked to wear a piece of cloth that is to protect your health & your community.
#Toronto is screwed, as this anti- mask wearing rally is huge, a multi-culti collection of yahoos downtown saying that "we don't wear masks, oxygen is essential...we don't social distance, how come we're not sick" (here's a clip) #COVID19 #COVID19Ontario #COVID #TOpoli #onpoli

I learned about residential schools, the 60s scoop & the Indian Act on Twitter. I wasn't taught any Black history. I didn't know Canada had slaves or the role folks from the West Indies played in building Canada. I didn't know about the Chinese head tax. It shouldn't be this way.
There are calls to add more Black history to Ontario's curriculum. CityNews' @BrandonRoweTV has the details bddy.me/2Z09jpo

I don’t know how people can minimize covid. My neighbour just took my husband to the ER. The first few days of Covid were fine. He didn’t have any symptoms and then they hit. Body chills. Severe headache that made him throw up. Fever. We tried. 7th wave got us. Now we wait.

So sad. I can't imagine what pharmacists are dealing with. And I don't think people are being malicious by not wearing masks. The messaging is that covid is over & you choose to wear a mask if you want and not necessarily what you should do to protect others when you're exposed.

I was in the ER for 12 hours last night. The bleeding, from fibroids & adenomyosis, wouldn't stop. They finally slowed my bleeding down but when I was discharged, my blood pressure was at 172/97. I am still being told to wait 14mths for surgery. How is this healthcare in Ontario?

I had malaria many times as a child and most recently as an adult in 2007. You don’t want to get malaria. This is a monumental moment in science in saving the lives of millions of children and in preserving the quality of life for those who survive malaria.
Children across much of Africa are to be vaccinated against malaria in a historic moment in the fight against the deadly disease bbc.in/3DbRe94

This weekend, I went to several different pharmacies looking for children's advil or tylenol. Coudn't find any. A pharmacist suggested I crush a 325g tylenol in half to give to my child. Over 95 kids are absent at my children's school today. What happens when flu season kicks in?

Had a mammogram months ago. Pain didn’t go away.Nothing found. Told doc if I could have an ultrasound or MRI as my tissue is dense. Told not the way things done. Still in pain. 4 months later, finally an MRI. Women please get checked & advocate for yourselves. You know your body.
