"Be careful what you do with the best you have. Whenever you get a blessing from God, give it back to Him as a love-gift. Take time to meditate before God and offer the blessing back to Him in a deliberate act of worship." —Oswald Chambers

It is ingrained in us that we have to do exceptional things for God— but we do not. We have to be exceptional in the ordinary things of life, and holy on the ordinary streets, among ordinary people— and this is not learned in five minutes. #myutmost |

Drudgery is the test of genuine character. The greatest hindrance in our spiritual life is that we will only look for big things to do. Yet, “Jesus…took a towel and…began to wash the disciples’ feet…” (John 13:3-5). #myutmost |

Not often, but every once in a while, God brings us to a major turning point— a great crossroads in our life. From that point we either go toward a more and more slow, lazy, and useless Christian life, or we become more on fire, giving our utmost for His highest. #myutmost

When God gets us alone through suffering, heartbreak, temptation, disappointment, sickness, or by thwarted desires, a broken friendship... — when He gets us absolutely alone, and we are totally speechless, unable to ask even one question, then He begins to teach us. #myutmost

Be careful that you don't become a hypocrite by spending all your time trying to get others right with God before you worship Him yourself.

Jesus Christ was born INTO this world, not FROM it. He did not emerge out of history; He came into history from the outside...Our Lord’s birth was an advent— the appearance of God in human form. #myutmost | utmost.org #MerryChristmas

Never let your common sense become so prominent...that it pushes the Son of God to one side. Common sense is a gift that God gave to our human nature— but common sense is not the gift of His Son. Supernatural sense is the gift of His Son...never put common sense on the throne.

God never gives us discernment so that we may criticize, but that we may intercede. #myutmost |

I must learn that the purpose of my life belongs to God, not me. God is using me from His great personal perspective, and all He asks of me is that I trust Him. #myutmost |

The typical view of the Christian life is that it means being delivered from all adversity. But it actually means being delivered IN adversity, which is something very different... God does not give us overcoming life— He gives us life as we overcome. #myutmost
