As per last retweet, #avfc were due 45 per cent of the gate receipts from Tuesday night under Carabao Cup rules. Instead, they have donated the money back to Barrow.

Dean Smith won't be remembered as a great Villa manager. But he was a very good one. The club's best appointment for at least a decade. Leaves so many great memories: 10 in a row, promotion, the cup run, the Great Escape. Heck of a job. #avfc

Today the first match Leon Bailey, Emi Buendia and Danny Ings have all started for #avfc since joining for a combined £83million (plus add-ons) in summer 2021. Their combined time on the pitch together, prior to today, was negligible.

Philippe Coutinho quite possibly the most high-profile signing in #avfc history. Bold, ambitious, exciting move. There's an element of risk, as with all signings (though only a loan at first so not too much). But in terms of statement deals, it's right up there.

McGinn was exceptional, Grealish sublime and Kodjia, a player who has come in for a fair bit of criticism, relentless. But more than anything that second half performance was the very definition of a team performance. Every single player gave everything. #avfc

No excuse for how poorly #avfc defended the corner. But what is the point of having video technology if you are not going to use it for "clear and obvious" errors like that by the assistant.
