In Nov we closed to save Christmas; in Dec we closed to save Easter; in Jan we closed to protect the NHS; in Feb we were given a long re-opening plan taking us to June; in May we’re told lockdown may not end in June. I’m not prepared to live like this.

£350 billion spent on Covid and not one extra hospital bed.

Furlough was a complete and utter disaster. Paying 20 and 30 year olds to stay at home even tho they are at little risk of serious harm from Covid and leaving business owners like me, in their 50s with the stress of dealing with no business or income. I will never forgive this.

4 weeks with a closed pub and I now owe Greene King £8,000 in rent. Greene King made £246.9 million last year and the taxpayer is currently paying for their furloughed staff. To save our pubs from this greed, please retweet - #nopubnorent

I’ve told my customers how it’s going to be from the 19th. I’m sure there will be some nervousness, but I feel that I have a responsibility in my business to lead us back to normality. The Mitre has been established 400 years and returned from the plague, cholera and Spanish Flu.

Got asked if I had a mask to “pop on” to walk 2 metres from the entrance of a small cafe to the nearest table to the door. “No” is all I said as I walked to the table. I’m not participating in utter stupidity and I’m not debating it either.

Mate, people were vilified, lost friends, were physically abused, carehome workers lost their jobs, people have had injuries from the jabs. This isn’t just a mistake as the info. was public all along. An apology doesn’t cut it. You and many others behaved like nazis.

20-minute neighbourhoods hitting my county of Norfolk. There are no significant traffic and emissions issues in rural Norfolk and the key industries are farming and tourism. THIS IS ABOUT RESTRICTING MOVEMENT AND IT WONT BE voluntary

I don’t think the left understand that Nigel Farage’s earnings mean nothing to his supporters as they are not envious socialists 🤣….
Nigel Farage is making £97,000 per MONTH BEFORE his MP salary. Making him the richest sitting MP. Why is ANYONE sending Reform UK £25 gifts? Has anyone in Clacton seen him yet?

When I said on Facebook that I was lifting all restrictions in the pub from the 19th I was told by one person that I was “mis-reading the room”. Takings are up 25% on the previous week. We’re still down on pre-pandemic, but the majority of the sociable public are done.

I love my pub, but I really don’t want to open again with any restrictions. Distancing, masks, perspex, track and trace, household mixing, table service made a fantastic job a terrible chore. The Govt have damaged us enough - we must say NO.

The man who made it illegal in England to drink standing up inside a pub and mandates a mask to walk through the inside of a pub is pictured today drinking standing up inside a pub and not wearing a mask.

I find it incredibly difficult to comprehend that some people believe that a person with Covid going into a pub wearing a used mask from their pocket to go to their table and then takes it off to chat and laugh for hours can possibly stop Covid spreading.

The Mitre will be #openforall, there will be no requirements to sign-in or sit apart, we will restore bar service and customers and staff will decide themselves whether the Government’s expectation of mask wearing in crowded places applies to themselves and their visit. Normal.
