i wanna know if i'm kinda buggin about something here: kpop idol careers feel so odd to me lately like for instance aespa is going on 4 years old and it feels like they just debuted and need more time to grow whereas back in the day groups felt quite established by this point

stray kids' management making desperate missteps shouldn't come as such a surprise but it just... does kai and taeyong enlisting felt a lot more like a blow than any 1st or 2nd gen idol ever did. ppl say "focus on your artists!!" when the "artists" are way out of their prime

the expectations ppl have toward itzy and twice are kinda ridiculous imo they're doing soooo much better than any 2nd gen group did at the points they're at like it is 100% absolutely time for new groups from all of the big companies but the fans are quite resistant

if super junior debuted four to six years after tvxq idek if there'd be a kpop as we know it treasure still feels like "yg's new group" even though they're overdue for the Anticipated Trainees part of the debut process. ppl are shocked sm has another japanese group in the works
