I’ve said this before but writing and producing The History of Rome turned me into a pro-immigrant radical. I went in a mostly passive liberal on the issue and came out an absolute zealot

The founding fathers all skate around on some thin ice called "I Inherited Slavery And Simply Didn't Change the Status Quo" but Bonaparte inherited a post-slavery status quo and successfully converted it back to slavery. Pretty unforgivable when you really think about it!
