    Stella Thomas, born in Nigeria in 1906, was admitted to the Inn in 1929. She was Called to the Bar in 1933, the first female barrister from West Africa, and went on to a successful practice in Lagos, becoming West Africa’s first female magistrate in 1943. #BlackHistoryMonth #BHM

    In 1598, the barrister John Davies assaulted a fellow Middle Templar with a stick until it broke, ran to the end of the Hall shaking his sword above his head, and hurried down to the river to escape to Oxford by boat. He was expelled from the Inn. #Archives
