New paper out today @PNASNews. We explored the network structure, cultural frames, and women’s participation in the movement to improve science—specifically in Open Science and Reproducibility across all sciences from 2010-2017 (N = 2,926 articles): bit.ly/2ZAkRQf. (1/X)

It’s official! I am a full professor @IUPsych. Couldn’t have done it without the support of so many- mentors, students, postdocs, lab managers, colleagues, friends, family, community. It takes a village and I am so very grateful for you.

We have the opportunity at IU to hire 100 new faculty- and my dept (Psychological & Brain Sciences) is going to compete for a few slots. Are there any faculty, soon-to-be-graduated grad students, postdocs who would like to join us at PBS (any area, any rank)? DMs open. Please RT!

What is happening tonight at Columbia & across the country is unconscionable. It is not lost on me that these same institutions that promised students & their families to care for them w/ slogans like “You Belong Here” & “Welcome Home” are now enacting violence against them. 1/

Today President Biden wants to remove the word "alien" from US immigration laws & replace it with the word "noncitizen". Our work on the immigrant labeling effect, led by @jruck_psych, shows how & why that will make a real difference. @ProfQuintanilla bit.ly/3bZ1XJA

By all means, tweet here BUT ALSO, please send your thoughts to: [email protected]. This is where they are being collected & as APS D&I Committee Chair, it will be helpful to have as many complaints sent there. This systemic racism is unacceptable. Changes are coming.
APS is aware of significant concerns shared by Steven O. Roberts psyarxiv.com/xk4yu about racist and biased editorial practices at Perspectives on Psychological Science. We support editorial independence but also editorial integrity. Full statement: psychologicalscience.org/news/news-rele…

My biggest fear is sociology paying more attention to identity (race, gender, class) and not the structures (white supremacy, patriarchy, capitalism) that make identities salient in the first place.

Social belonging interventions are direct-to-student programs that normalize questions about belonging & offer strategies to support students' belonging over time. BUT…where does it work and for whom? Could it have more to do with the INSTITUTION & less w/ students themselves?🧵

One of my fav parts of #SPSP2023 was this conversation between Dr Claude Steele & Dr James Jones, who reminded us that together they represent more than 100 years in the field. Lots of wisdom shared- & it was recorded! Great job, @SPSPnews, for including this!
