I’m interviewing ppl about their personal finances — how much $ they make, how they afforded their house (or not), how they feel about their finances etc — for a new project I’ll be excited to announce soon. Whose personal finances do YOU want to hear about? (Famous ppl or not)

Postmaster General Louis DeJoy's son, who was not a top tennis prospect, made it onto Duke's competitive tennis team while DeJoy & his wife donated to Duke's athletic dept. In all they gave at least $2.2M

It’s an outrage that the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department would criminally investigate me as a reporter for doing my job. It’s the kind of action that’s aimed at intimidating journalists from digging into government agencies. (1/2)

From Aug: I spoke to Mpls Police public info officer who wrote inaccurate press release on Floyd's murder. He got his info fr sergeants & dispatch log, none saying what actually happened. He didn't review body cam b4 issuing statement. His salary: $110k

One of my fondest memories of working at the Los Angeles Times is when the LA Sheriff’s deputy union put out a notice about me and @bposton doing our jobs as reporters once we had the names on the Brady List and were knocking on doors. 🚨 memories 🚨

The public relations machine within police departments -- paid for by taxpayers -- has wide influence in shaping the public narrative. Which videos get released by police, and which do not? My latest:

New: Dep. Miguel Vega, who shot and killed 18yo Andres Guardado, faced allegations of misconduct in the past. Neither of the deputies inv. in the shooting have been interviewed. Sheriff’s Dept still hasn’t said why shooting occurred. latimes.com/california/sto… by @AleneTchek & me

The leak referenced in this story was critical in my being able to write articles, with my colleagues, that helped change laws to open more police disciplinary files for public review, undoing decades of secrecy in California.

Today is my last day at the Los Angeles Times. I’m so proud of the work I got to do here, but my warmest memories will be of who I got to produce that work with. Thank you to my amazing colleagues for this gift on my doorstep! Let’s get our 🍷 on in a couple hrs!

Someone I know just told me they saw my tweet, booked their (non-healthcare worker) 82yo mom for a vaccine for 20 mins later, and their mom just got the shot. I'm looking online and seeing appts at Dodger avail for tonight. FYI!
LA Vaccine portal was just updated to allow for anyone 65+ to get an appt, possibly as early as today, according to LA Mayor’s office. Sites include Dodger Stadium, Crenshaw Christian Ctr, San Fernando Park, Hansen Dam & Lincoln Park carbonhealth.com/covid-19-vacci…

Hmm... In Senate hearing today, @RepRaskin cites our original reporting (w/ @laura_nelson) on rotting food, dead animals in postal facilities, except he says it's from @BusinessInsider. They ripped off our story. It's actually from @latimes #supportyourlocalpaper
