GIF - I had a medical student shadow me all day in oncology clinic and, when I asked them at the end what surprised them the most, they paused to reflect & then said “the hope”

- There’s a chemotherapy I prescribe where the infusion rate varies by both temperature & altitude and the dosage coefficient changes based on the patient’s bilirubin so I am very lucky that medicine doesn’t involve <checks notes> “technically difficult stuff like math or physics”it's honestly insane that we expect people to take more than 8 years to become a medical doctor. it should take 2 years max, it's all memorization anyways. it's not technically difficult stuff like math or physics
