Hindenburg had very little to do with Zeppelins being abandoned. The real reason we quit using them is because they suck. They're slow, difficult to maneuver, unable to handle the weather, and have shockingly low carrying capacity. Planes are far more efficient.

In Disney's case it's because Pixar was raking in cash with hit after hit. Princess and the Frog underperformed at the box office, and the following year Tangled was a smash hit. From their perspective 3D CG made money, and 2D didn't.
