    Pearly Young, 77, was killed today in #Buffalo shopping for groceries. For 25 years she ran a pantry where every Saturday she fed people in Central Park. Every. Saturday. She loved singing, dancing, & being with family. She was mother, grandma, & missionary. Gone too soon 🕊

    My friend in Buffalo decided to walk two blocks home from his mom’s house Saturday night. He said when he realized he wasn’t going to make it he called 911 so there would be a recording of his final words apologizing to his family. He wanted his son to hear him say goodbye.

    He found a tree to rest under and saw the light by his house. Said walking home was like sticking your head out of the window of a moving car. He made it back & called 911 so they wouldn’t deliver that message to his family. This storm was devastating. The stories are gutting.

    Just got a call from a source briefed by law enforcement in Buffalo. They confirmed the shooter is a known white supremacist and drove into town from Broome county targeting this grocery store knowing it was in a predominately Black area of town.

    Gerri Talley, 62, stopped by the store for some cold cuts on the way home from the waterfront with her fiancé Greg. Headed to checkout, Gerri realized she forgot sweet tea & sent Greg back to grab it. That's when it started. He hid in a freezer. She didn't have the chance.🕊️

    I’m seeing a lot of unconfirmed reports about white supremacy. My attempts to report on the rise of Buffalo white supremacist factions are a major reason I am no longer working there. I’m not allowed to share more, but wish I could. We should’ve talked about this sooner.

    For those following from outside of BUF. Broome county is 3.5 hours away (dropped pin). This grocery store is in the HEART of the Black community of Buffalo. The mayor just said he traveled to perpetrate this crime with intention.

    I spent the day with Pearly Young's family to learn more about her. They talked a lot about her hugs, her food, but mostly her smile. Her best friend dropped her off to get groceries Saturday... not knowing she'd be the last to see that smile. @WGRZ wgrz.com/article/news/l…
