I am 45 and never been married. People make a lot of assumptions when older women say that. I'll tell you a couple reasons why I have chosen singleness most of my life.
I grew up in evangelicalism and saw women beg their husbands for love and understanding

- Replying to @m1nd1And I want someone who matches me. Who celebrates me. Who doesn't love me for what I can do for them but for who I am. Singleness is better than broken, lonely relationships where I feel small and used.
- Replying to @m1nd1If I don't have a partner that softens me, then I don't want it. If I don't have a partner that listens and loves me the way I need it, then what am I doing in that relationship? It's easier for me to carry my own burdens than to carry a man's AND my own alone.
- Replying to @m1nd1I saw them ask for gifts only to be called materialistic. I saw them forgo hopes and dreams and friendships in order to serve their husbands every whim. I saw them stay at home to raise children only to be left in ruin when husbands leave.
- Replying to @m1nd1I saw them work outside the home only to come home and be responsible for majority of house work, cooking, and raising kids while their partners got to sit on front of the TV. I saw them minister only to be told they couldn't be called pastor.
- Replying to @m1nd1I love big. I give big. I love to spoil my partner. And I'd rather be by myself than be alone in a relationship that doesn't feed me emotionally or spiritually.
- Replying to @m1nd1I CAN do it alone. I have lived all these years alone. Paid my own bills, gone to therapy, and done the work. I serve my community. I have good relationships with my family. So anyone who enters my life is a bonus. So why wouldn't I want that to be good?
- Replying to @m1nd1I saw them struggle only to be told to count it all joy I was called selfish when I said I sought true partnership. I was called immature when I said I want a partner who spoils me as much as I spoil them
- Replying to @m1nd1I am a good person. A good partner. A faithful friend. I make it known that I'm a romantic. I give romance, I expect romance. I say exactly what I mean. I walk through life with an open heart and open hand.
- I work in dog grooming & we save a bit of fur from our clients. If the client passes away we create a resin heart with the fur in it. Well, my boy passed on Friday & I thought "all these memorials and I won't have one of my own". Today my sister found my dogs fur in the file 😭
- Replying to @thatcuteDogMy aunts did, one of my grandmas said "now I can live" after her husband passed. He was very controlling
- It also shows you're a hard worker and a saver because tattoos are expensive. So really the more tattoos you have the more responsible you are
