Met a guy I know while I was walking the doggo. We chatted a bit, and because I know he's smart and I like him, I told him he still needs to be masking, and I told him why. I told him about viral persistence. He said "so it's like herpes, HIV and measles." I said "exactly." 1/2
He said that the telehealth doctor thought that he might have a Covid variant and explained that recovery could take "as long as 3 months." I explained to him the importance of making sure he is not reinfected, gave him a pack of N95s and sent him on his way. #Covid#SARSCoV2 end
So, he "got" it, but before I spoke to him about it today, he had no idea. He also spoke about how he and his wife had it last year and got over it easily, so I told him about the danger that comes with each reinfection. Again, he had no idea. Public health has failed us. 2/2
