Hi Patrick, it's clear from the multiple ratios and reader comments that no one believes you. I have some follow-up qs for you:
- Considering your editorial board's antipathy to Mr. Mamdani, can you clarify whether this article was greenlit by you or at the behest of the board?
We believe Mr. Mamdani’s thinking and decision-making, laid out in his words, was newsworthy and in line with our mission to help readers better know and understand top candidates for major offices.
Canvassed a young woman in Wash Heights. She and her family supported Zohran but believed she wasn't registered. Checked and not only her but her sis were registered Dems. The way her face lit up, her joy about being able to vote for someone who gave her hope - is why we canvass.
I did pollsite visibility for 2.5 hours at Friends of Crown Heights. Vast majority under 50. Periodically canvassed the line and got 90% ranking Zohran and not Cuomo. Even in the heat and 35+ min wait, nearly 100% completion by people in line. Millennials coming into our own.
A democratic socialist candidate for Mayor gets a glowing feature in the NYT promoting a pro-working class plan. Oh how we dreamed of times like these.
Canvassed two large rent stabilized buildings in the Bronx. Some had heard of Zohran. Most hadn't. All were excited about his platform.
But the real kicker? None had been canvassed prior to today. The Bronx is ready for Zoh-mentum. We just need to seize the opportunity.
Jamaal Bowman just broke the record as the target of the most outside spending in a primary ever, and he's still speaking truth to power. That's moral leadership.
Considering that one of the writer, a Ben Ryan, has a public record of being implicitly biased against Mr. Mamdani, are you planning to remove him from further coverage of the mayoral race? If not, why not?
Your description of "Cremieux" still maintains his anonymity while whitewashing his white supremacist ideology and burnishing his reputation as an 'academic' despite his only cited publication in the field having led to his professor being fired. Why?
Useful to compare the two responses. Zohran labels the actions for what they are and demands for Brad to be freed. Cuomo's tweet is an exercise in the passive voice - and doesn't even try for Brad's release.
One is a leader, the other a spectator. I know who I want as my mayor.
