- With heavy hearts and tremendous sorrow, we mourn the tragic death of LFD Firefighter Sean McAdam who died from a medical emergency in the line of duty on May 11, 2022. Sean joined the LFD family in March 2002, spending his entire career assigned to specialty rescue companies.
- The past year has been a terribly sad & difficult time for the LFD community, as we mourned the loss of four beautiful souls. On this somber anniversary, please keep the families & all whose lives have been touched by Lesley, Rhyan, Carrie, & Kacey in your thoughts & prayers.
- LFD’s own, Maurice Ponder (T8), was recently named 7th Region Coach of the Year. Ponder is in his 3rd season at Male & has lead the program from 16-15 in his first yr to 19-5 this season. The Bulldogs have earned a spot in the 7th Region Tournament. Congrats Coach and good luck!
- LFD technical rescue teams continued conducting search & rescue operations this morning at the site of the Mayfield Consumer Products Candle Factory in Mayfield, KY. LFD has supported the ongoing efforts since early Saturday morning. #Mayfield #kentuckystrong #kentuckytornado
- Each year, the Blue Coats of Louisville Inc. recognize a member of The LFD as Firefighter of the Year. Recipients of the prestigious award are recognized for outstanding service to the community. The 2020 Firefighter of the Year Award is posthumously awarded to FF Lesley Prather.

- The LFD celebrates the graduation of recruit class 186. This is our first joint venture recruit class with Shively FD and PRP Fire District. The 55 recruits have completed 26 weeks of intense training. Mayor Fischer administered the Oath of Office. Congratulations and good luck!

- LFD crews & the families of LODD heroes gathered to greet the Kentucky Brotherhood Ride participants with “sweaty hugs” in downtown Louisville this afternoon. We’re incredibly proud of everyone involved in honoring our fallen in such a special way. Great work!
