Obama wades into the 2020 race, warning of the dangers of listening to “certain left-leaning twitter feeds” or “the activist wing of our party.”
“Even as we push the envelope and we are bold in our vision we also have to be rooted in reality," he said.
.@SenateMajLdr: "We have hired a female assistant to go on staff and to ask these questions in a respectful and professional way. We want this hearing to be handled very professionally not a political sideshow..." #Kavanaugh
Would be really curious to see an analysis of how often Scalia's nine children -- and how he "managed," "balanced," "juggled" them -- were mentioned during his SCOTUS confirmation hearing.
Tara Reade tells me she canceled the interview with Fox News because death threats received by her and her child made her nervous about being in the public eye.
Big developments since @Morning_Joe interview yesterday:
1. Biden accuser cancels interview with Chris Wallace on Fox News.
2. Now says her complaints did not complain of sexual harassment or assault.
Biden campaign talking points "inaccurately suggest a New York Times investigation found that Tara Reade’s allegation 'did not happen.' Our investigation made no conclusion." cc:@melbournecoal NYT spox response to this scoop by @rubycramer@RosieGraybuzzfeednews.com/article/rubycr…
Also worth remembering: Tara Reade never said she filed a complaint alleging sexual assault. She says she filed a complaint alleging harassment by Biden while she worked for him. So even if the complaint exists and is findable, it wouldn’t prove or disprove her alleged assault.
NEW: Lawyers in California are reviewing criminal cases in which Tara Reade served as an expert witness on domestic violence, concerned that she misrepresented her credentials in court. w/@jimrutenberg & @stefsaulnyti.ms/3bQJZFp
Obama's comments were meant to reassure establishment Democrats about the strength of the field. But they also offered an implicit critique of Sanders & Warren, as well as proposals once widely considered to be left to the liberal fringes of the party.
