I followed the rules, my mother died alone in a covid ward. They lied, broke the rules they made, broke the law while in office. Their “unreserved” apologies and supporting MPs have me so upset I am nauseous. Deeply sad for the state of our society allowing any of this to happen.

I lost mum to Covid this Christmas. I am broken and there is a lot to heal. It’s hard to put into words just how extraordinary the @NHSuk nurses and doctors have been, how patient and kind as they led me through every detail of mum’s condition that I hung on to, how composed 1/9

Thinking of my mum tonight, and all who died needlessly because of him. Sending all those who also lost loved ones strength. This is still not easy, it brings it all back, but finally, some justice. 🙏😔

An Amur tiger of the Russian Far East, caught on camera trap. Sent to me by my friend and hero, conservationist Victor Lukarevski, who continues to fight tirelessly for nature as we go about our daily lives. Wishing you all a peaceful and restful festive season tweeps. 💛🌟💛

I will continue to get unbiased, science-based information about Covid-19 from such trusted sources as @devisridhar @edyong209 and @IndependentSage. Stay safe and take care of each other. 9/9

This thread… Once the envy of the world, now defunded, dismantled, suffering the loss of so many incredible workers through Brexit. Now it’s claimed it’s a broken system that can only be fixed through privatisation. We have to make lying wrong again. #SaveOurNHS #NursesStrike

To all those who couldn’t see loved ones in hospital last December. Who couldn’t hold their hand. I see you. My mum was fighting for her life on the 18th as they partied. She passed without her family by her side on the 29th. As if this Christmas wasn’t going to be hard enough.

I dearly hope that in my lifetime we will collectively wake up and reject our addiction to monetary gain and short term political goals, and recognise the true value of connectedness, community, wellbeing, kindness and caring for our planet and each other - no matter our age. 6/9

Dear @BorisJohnson, please could you at least do the easy stuff and lead by example by not having three plastic water bottles and a takeaway coffee cup on your desk? 😣 #DrowninginPlastic #WarOnPlastic @HughFW @aplastic_planet

Dear @susie_dent, What’s the word for a person who lies incessantly, becoming louder and more bullish, dare I say hysterical, oozing desperation even, in his efforts to ram the lies down people’s throats? Apologies if you have done this word before.

Thank you @DrAmirKhanGP for communicating the actual facts in the face of racist propaganda - spouted by a man being paid £1.5m for the chance to spread such vile disinformation to the nation.

There was a time when we revered our elders, when it would have been unheard of to speak of older people as more dispensable than others. My mother was not a less important human. Nor was she just a statistic. 7/9

but what I do know is that she was a victim of the ongoing mishandling of the pandemic, and the blatant misunderstanding of what it takes to contain the virus and therefore protect the economy. We didn’t listen to and act on the science. My world crumbled as I watched 4/9

despite the nightmare they’ve had to endure for far too long now, how privileged we are to have the NHS. It strikes me once again, thanks to the faceless angels I spoke to on the end of a phone, often in the dead of night, just how beautiful we humans can be - compassionate, 2/9
