- Spotted on my way to work this morning... can’t believe these guys didn’t put “give us a ring” on the back of their van
- A child, Ismail Mohamed Abdulwahab, died without his family and was buried without his family because of official restrictions. So no thanks, I don’t want to hear any bullshit “interpretation” of those self-same restrictions from anyone, anywhere to do with politics
- 28 years married. No card. No shiny present. Just a huge bunch of the same flowers that were in my wedding bouquet, grown in secret and brought home by motorbike, in a box
- Just discovered my late grandmother Hilda Ellen’s preferred party drink, in case you need a recipe
- Enough time has gone by (six days) and I’ve held a respectful silence - but now seems a good moment to share that my father’s last word was “bollocks”
- I don’t want to cause a stampede but Tom Hiddleston and Zawe Ashton are at the table next to me at dinner and my main courses have just been given to them by mistake. How we’ve all chuckled
- My brilliant daughter, who has a bit of a learning difficulty, part deaf and a bit anxious, has got herself on a train from college in Cheshire to London with a broken phone and a screen-grab of her e-ticket. She deserves every cake I can find/bake when she arrives
- It feels good to be alive ten years to the day since my cancer diagnosis.
- I’m only a mum because another mum created these incredible people and I was lucky enough to be matched with them. Mother’s Day can be hard in the adoption landscape, but I’m here to tell you it’s also amazing
- I’ve read this at too many funerals, but no one says it better. Just waiting for a few more hours till I say it for the best of people, my own beloved pa
- I don’t often tweet family stuff but wanted to note that 15 years (and one week) ago we started the adventure of being a family. Adoption is a staggeringly amazing gift that quietens into just... family. Here’s to the next 15
