Update on the fraudulent takedowns of the TUNIC & Dustforce OSTs:
We're still waiting to hear back from our counternotice. We received a 2nd threat to take down our remaining music. We're worried our distributor @DistroKid won't protect us from new attacks, but will even ban us:

- Recently I received a threat on Messenger from a random person, saying they would take down my music. They made a simple DMCA claim and now everything's being removed from all streaming services. Janice and I are working hard to get things back online, but no definite answers yet
- The TUNIC OST (and others) are back online! The weeks of musicless uncertainty were worrisome. @alsojanice and I were lucky to have everyones patience & support. We want to show our thanks by releasing for free some of our initial piano concepts for TUNIC:
- After 7 years, the TUNIC soundtrack is complete. I co-composed it with Janice Kwan @alsojanice, and we're excited to finally share it with everyone. It's 60 tracks and 3 hours long! It'll release March 16, but you can pre-order it now and hear some tracks:
- Replying to @lifeformedThe affected albums/tracks are: TUNIC, Fastfall, Umbra, and Undiscovery. All of our music is still accessible and streamable on #Bandcamp.
- Replying to @lifeformedThey simply had to send an email to Apple Music with no proof, and the entire network of streaming services will instantly remove the music, block the royalties, and "flag my account". The onus is on me to prove that I am the owner, and they have no obligation to listen to me.
- Replying to @lifeformedThey say there's nothing they can do, but of course we all know they would never take down a big artist or label.
- Replying to @lifeformedAnyways, I'm hopeful it'll be back up and running soon, we filed a counter claim but it might take at least two weeks to resolve.
- Replying to @lifeformedRemember: all the attacker had to do was ask, and leave a throwaway email address. If they do this again, our music will effectively be banned from the mainstream internet.
- Replying to @lifeformedThey just said the only thing I can do is take legal action against the scammer, from which they've only provided me their throwaway email address lol
- Replying to @lifeformedAnyone, anywhere in the world, can do this to any music that is not from the big labels, who are specially whitelisted from these problems (and who made these laws in the first place).
- Replying to @lifeformedEveryone already knows that the DMCA laws are deeply flawed and disproportionately benefit large corporations. Then why do distributors and streaming services not at the very least offer the most basic protections against these low effort attacks?
- Replying to @lifeformedWe're hoping not just to get our music back, but that @distokid and other services can offer protections against these kinds of attacks in the near future for artists everywhere.
- Replying to @lifeformedEven if we get our music back online, there are no protections against another attack. Janice and I work hard every day to make new music and games that we hope to share soon but we rely on the streaming income to do that.
