17 years ago I broke off an engagement. flew home & never saw him again. called my dad to pick me up at the airport no questions asked (he did). called the firm I wanted to work at & asked them to reopen the offer I had declined (they did).
met my husband <2 months later…
I don't know who needs to hear this, but you can break off your engagement. You don't have to get married if you know it's not right. Even if you have sent out the invites, bought the dress, planned the ceremony, you can walk away.
