All I wrote in the script here was “Vi raises an eyebrow, curious.” And what I got was an emotional revelation. I’ll never get tired of watching this. 👀👀
From a cut scene:
WOMAN: “I have to say, it's always nice to meet another curious woman...”
She means hot. She's laying it on. Caitlyn's got her primed
for secret spilling, but --
She just now notices Vi's gone. Shit. Caitlyn leaves a disappointed woman in her wake.
I happened to be in an animation review when this shot came up and Christian asked me if I thought he should keep the wink or not, I said “I like a little sass on Vi.”
Another brilliant touch by a Fortiche animator. ✨
Can we just take a moment to appreciate how much work went into 2 seconds of this show?? 👀👀
Background artists, character and prop designers, animators, sound design, loop group and a myriad more I’m surely missing. Stunning. ✨
Milking it even in the script…
“A final moment of CONNECTION between the two women... Before the mist swallows Vi.”
The folks at Fortiche added this cheek caress from Vi, and then had Caitlyn return the gesture later, which I thought was a lovely little parallel. 💕
I had the privilege of giving this baby girl her last name!
Here's the first thing I wrote about her: "Caitlyn is a KIRAMMAN. And that’s all anyone ever bothers to learn about her. If you’re a fellow member of the Piltovan elite, the Kiramman reputation is all you need to know."
Script tidbit: “Vi parkours like only a native can. She enjoys her new freedom. Everything she does with ease, Caitlyn survives through sheer force of will --
This is Caitlyn's introduction to the undercity and Vi's homecoming.”
We have a running joke that the Arcane darlings graveyard looks like Arlington, and I usually write at least 4 drafts before I consider a script fit for human consumption, (aka the first round of notes).
But this scene is 5 words shorter than the very first time I wrote it.
