I know this is confusing because being from New York is supposed to mean that you’re rich, but private schools in fact offer financial aid. I grew up with a single mom w/o health insurance, and we got food stamps for a while when money was really tight.

- Replying to @kfzbarrowI really hesitated to weigh in here because the lit world deserves all the elitism critiques that it gets, and then some. But that’s all the more reason that transparency is key, and simplistic assumptions like this one are unhelpful.
