AFSCME union attorney closing argument: The question of remote work needs to go before a labor arbitrator. Work schedules can’t be changed more than one day of work as per the master CBA (collective bargaining agreement) and alternative work schedules were being bargained.
Are you a homeowner who evacuated for #HurricaneIda? The state is ordering all insurance companies to pay for hotel costs for those who evacuated, mandatory or not.
Now the union attorney is back to discussing their arguments. Saying the city can bargain something they aren’t mandated to do. Once the city agrees to bargain something they can’t go back.
This is not accurate information. The Times-Picayune did not file for bankruptcy. Nor did the owners of the Advocate control it when the newspaper editions were cut to 3 days a week. It’s actually the opposite. The Advocate’s owners brought 7 days of newspaper back to the region.
Everyday I remind myself that the folks who run the @theadvocatebr are the same ones who bankrupted the Times Picayune! So if or when you read it keep that in mind!
