I am humbled to be your first Afro-Latina immigrant woman councilwoman. This campaign was never about me though, it was always about bringing power to the people. To give voices to those who felt left out. #ItsTime, and our work starts tomorrow.

Today following the Council Budget vote I received a call from a Latino male questioning my identity because in his mind I was too black for his taste. He didn't understand or appreciate why claiming my black roots and uplifting black lives matters to me. Here what I had to say.

BPD have been encouraging protesters to leave, yet MBTA has been suspending all forms of transportation this past hour. I had to personally go on two rescue missions to pick up young protesters who were stranded. How are we ensuring that #AllMeansAll make it home safe? #bospoli
Green Line, Orange Line, Red Line: All trains are bypassing Park Street and Downtown Crossing until further notice due to a demonstration in the downtown area.

Canvassing with @AyannaPressley reminds me of how we are fighting to not just win this Tuesday, but also do the hard work of building black and brown political power in Boston on all levels. #knockyourblock y’all. #bospoli

We have carried centuries of generational trauma from systemic racism — it’s past time we address these issues & create intentional legislation for #AllMeansAll. Today, #MApoli electeds of color created a 10-Point Plan to Address Police Violence & Advance Racial Justice. THREAD:

Regardless of how you feel about the vaccine mandate no one- I repeat NO ONE should use racist tactics to bully @MayorWu. Stop it.

The day after @AyannaPressley was elected to the House, I was so inspired & motivated to run for that open City Council seat, I announced my candidacy in a press interview. Now, I have her old City Hall office & am chairing the two committees she sat on—one of which she created.

This is such an exciting and emotional moment for me and my family. To think that a girl who arrived in this city as an immigrant with her mom and litttle means can one day see herself carried into city hall by the many people who share the same journey as me. #ItsTime

Grateful for the leadership and firece urgency of @SenWarren and @RepPressley as they fight to build infrastructure that invests in early childhood education, fuels our economy, supports small businesses & recognizes the value of our return on THIS investment for #allmeansall

Yoooooo I thought winning by 1 vote after a recount was as crazy as it could get in #bospoli- BUT seeing all these folks jumping into the mayoral race is definitely amusing! FYI- in 2021 I will be fighting to earn your vote to serve as a 2nd term At Large Councilor #allmeansall

To think that years ago I celebrated becoming a naturalized citizen in the very building that I will be sworn in today as the first Latina immigrant City Councilor in Boston. Thanks to family, friends and all the people of Boston for making this day possible! #Bospoli
