    I despair when people say, "I don't listen to @NPR to hear..." (fill in with repellent opinion, music, sport, or literature you're sure offends you). NPR exists to bring you the world, challenge, surprise, inform, even outrage, not cosset the audience.

    Buffalo in 9 months: Supermarket massacre in May. 10 murdered. Nov. snowstorm sets record, 75 inches. At least 2 dead. Dec. snowstorm. More than 3 dozen dead. Bills player Damar Hamlin collapses during game. My Buffalo peeps have absorbed a lot. Keep them in your heart.

    NPR Newscaster Carl Kassell has passed at 84. For about 15 years I produced his 5 am newscast and lined up his 6 am. I knew what he liked and what he didn’t like in his line ups. I bought the @waitwait bowling shirt only because his name was embroidered on it. 1/
