After careful consideration, I have decided to vote against the Assisted Dying Bill at Third Reading.
This is not a decision I have made lightly, and I respect there are different views on this important topic. I explain my reasons in detail in the attached note.

- Today I spoke in favour of a number of amendments to the Assisted Dying Bill. Fundamentally, I do not believe the safeguards in the Bill can protect people from coercion. I remain opposed to the Bill and will vote against at 3rd Reading.
00:00 - I condemn this attack on the Central Mosque. Racism and Islomaphobia have no place in Glasgow. I am proud to share my home city with my Glaswegian Muslim brothers and sisters - an attack like this is an attack on each of us.
- Final session in a very sunny Runcorn for our brilliant @UKLabour candidate Karen Shore. Karen will be a brilliant MP who will work incredibly hard.
- Immensely proud to have been sworn in today as the MP for Glasgow East.
- I am deeply honoured to have been elected as the MP for Glasgow East. The opportunity to serve the communities of Glasgow East is a privilege and I will do this to the best of my abilities.
- I voted against the Assisted Dying Bill this afternoon. I am disappointed to see the bill pass 3rd Reading. It now heads to the House of Lords, where I hope it receives very careful scrutiny. - First day at Westminster as the MP for Glasgow East. Great to hear from our new PM as well!
- Glasgow's Muslim communities make an immense contribution to our city. A privilege to visit the Glasgow Central Mosque today with my fellow MPs and Anas to show our support following the vile anti Muslim vandalism this week. Racism and islamophobia have no place in Glasgow.
- Delighted to nominate @bphillipsonMP for Deputy Leader. Glasgow and the North East of England share the same values - solidarity and ambition for every child. Bridget will fight hard for these values in Scotland and across the UK and take the fight to the SNP and Reform.I am running to be Deputy Leader of @UKLabour. As a proud working-class woman from the North East, I have come from a tough council street all the way to the Cabinet. I will be a strong voice to unite our Party, take the fight to Reform, and deliver for our country.
- Polls show that we in Scotland believe that @Keir_Starmer will make a much better PM than Rishi Sunak. But we take nothing for granted. @ScottishLabour will work tirelessly to win votersโ trust in 2024. We are determined to deliver a brighter future for Scotland.2023 has been a year of pride and achievement. But for too many, it's been another tough year financially and a time of insecurity internationally. In 2024, Labour is ready to renew politics so it serves our country again. Let's make this the year we get Britainโs future back.
