The best, most profound and moving speech in Abu Dhabi last week was delivered by this man--Vice President Osinbajo of Nigeria. Powerful!

It was my privilege to deliver the keynote address at the opening session of the Sixth Assembly of the Forum for Promoting Peace organized by the Government of the United Arab Emirates.

Men: if you’ve seen “Sound of Freedom” and want to do something substantive about the trafficking of children, the answer isn’t in paramilitary strategy. It’s actually far simpler, but much more difficult for too many men: Stop. Watching. Pornography.

“The church will go underground. We had that under the Soviet Union. The church did not forget what it means to be persecuted. We will rearrange, reorganize, and do what we always do; preach the gospel.” Yarsolav “Slavik” Pyzh President Ukrainian Baptist Theological Seminary

I respect any man who still cusses in my presence AFTER discovering I’m a pastor. 😃 Seriously, I’ll take real life over feigned piety any day.

We in the SBC could have a substantive, redemptive, Biblically guided conversation on race. But first, we're going to have to sideline anyone--including seminary professors--who think "wokeness" is more of a threat to our future than making excuses for our slave-owning founders

Our waiter last night: “I’m so sorry for the delay. There’s a whole bunch of Baptists in town.” Us (without our credentials on and I guess we don’t “look like Baptists”): “What kind of customers are Baptists?” Him: “actuallly, they’ve been so kind, and generous” 🙂 #sbc21

Translation: women must remain weak so that men can be strong because the default is “men vs women.” This is NOT Scriptural teaching. It’s what insecure men use to legitimize abuse.

I am pro-life. I find the Democratic platform on abortion to be beyond repulsive and an unconscionable attack on the very image of God. But Republicans had control on that issue for 24 of the past 40 years. (1/2)

For the folks in the back…

Folks, there isn’t a single syllable in Scripture that predicts a so-called “cashless society.” Not a single one. You’re welcome.

The Republican Party is not—and has never been “pro-life.” It just uses abortion as a clobber issue for its evangelical followers. (3/2)

Seriously, I’m old enough to remember when you just didn’t ask people who they voted for. I’m certainly old enough to remember when we didn’t wrap our entire identity in who we voted for. I’d like to see those days make a comeback. We’d all live longer.

Doctors. Attorneys. Teachers. Just three professions you are banned from for life if found guilty of abusing those you are charged with serving. Until the church adds pastors to that list, we are guilty of ignoring sins even the pagans don’t tolerate. (1 Cor 5:1)
