- Sources have confirmed that Loyola’s Porter Moser will be named the next head coach at Oklahoma. Deal is being finalized. #OU
- Former Illinois Mr. Basketball Mark Smith met with athletic administration at Illinois today with his intent to transfer. Should have his release from Illini in a day or two.
- What a night for the former Glenbard West trio, all leading their teams in scoring and to wins: Gonzaga’s Braden Huff (19 pts, 9 reb) vs. Yale Princeton’s Caden Pierce (26 pts, 15 reb) vs. Hofstra. Davidson’s Bobby Durkin (16 pts, 4 threes) w/ game-winning 3 to beat Maryland.
- After watching Illinois’ two games in Vegas, it couldn’t have been a better, more productive 1-1 for #Illini. Pair of high-level games vs. contrasting styles in opponents; depth was proven; freshmen ahead of schedule and will only get better. Very impressive start.
- #Illini commit Morez Johnson of St. Rita starts this highly anticipated matchup with Thornton and Ty Rodgers off with a dunk at the Chicago Elite Classic with coach Brad Underwood sitting courtside.
- Loved watching Ty Rodgers when he was an out-of-state prospect and looking forward to watching him play his senior year at Thornton this season. Great pick-up for #Illini and coach Brad Underwood.
- Ronnie Fields, the former Illinois high school basketball great, addresses his team today as the new head coach at Hope. The legendary prep star scored over 2,000 career points and teamed up with Kevin Garnett at Farragut in the 1990s.
- Fully expect Loyola assistant coach Drew Valentine to replace Porter Moser and be named the next head coach of the Ramblers.
- Sadly, the legendary Landon “Sonny” Cox, who compiled a 503-89 record while coaching at King, passed away today. Cox coached some of the all-time greats in Marcus Liberty, Jamie Brandon, Rashard Griffith and others while winning state championships in 1986, 1990 and 1993.
