A London A&E department celebrating the very rare event of not having patients on trolleys in a f***ing corridor. Thatโ€™s what 14yrs of the Tories has done to the NHS. Itโ€™s going to be a long journey back, but I hope itโ€™s starting soonโ€ฆ
Apparently this was in Northwick Parkโ€™s ED โฆ@LNWH_NHSโฉ this morning. No patients in the Escalation Space. Happy Christmas to my colleagues!

Listening to what this Emergency Department nurse, suffering from #Covid19, chose to say to โฆ@BBCNewsโฉ is heartbreaking Despite her pain.... despite everything:

Just a normal East of England DGH ambulance waiting area. Hospital empty, obviously. We just make the crews and patients wait for kicks. At least thatโ€™s what some total idiots on Twitter would have you believe ๐Ÿ˜ก

Sorry @thetimes but as an A&E consultant this is one of the most farcical things I have read in a long while. And that is saying something.

A&E departments are staffed, skilled, equipped and big enough to (just about) cope with genuine Emergency demand. We cannot handle the volume of non-emergency work that is currently coming in on top of it. System is broken. Urgent solutions needed.

If you used one of these in your job youโ€™re as old as fuck.

I challenge anyone to give me a better way to spend 99p

This is what makes so little sense about the whole PA thing - they arenโ€™t even cheapโ€ฆ

I donโ€™t want to leave, but unless someone does something serious about fixing social care/exit block soon, I donโ€™t think I can handle it much longer ๐Ÿ˜ข Having more and more days where I leave work with a feeling of not wanting to come back.

Absolutely crushing shift this evening. So angry at being unable to deliver anything like the standard of care we would want to and picking up the pieces of all the gaps in the system. EM at itโ€™s worst ๐Ÿ˜ข #ExitBlock

    No I hadnโ€™t. And itโ€™s lovely ๐Ÿ˜Š

    Replying to @Robyn_Medhurst and @marklunn123
I think those of us working in these sort of environments accept that sometimes these sort of coping mechanisms are used by staff behind closed doors, but they need to remain behind closed doors. Putting this out on social media was a mistake.

Absolute beast of a shift last night. Relentless demand. Flow not the problem for once, just numbers. Definitely not sustainable but I donโ€™t have any answers, other than telling the public to expect very long (>4hr) waits if they attend ED. Itโ€™s 1999 again.
