- Selection bias occurs when respondents are non-randomly selected into a sample, leading to errors in generalization. It makes zero sense to apply the logics of randomization to qualitative research b/c the goal is not generalization.(1/2) We need more attention to selection bias in qualitative research. Although I'm not a qualitative researcher, the concerns I'm raising are discussed regularly by qualitative methodologists.
