Do better @seattletimes. Legalizing modest home choices in no way eliminates the construction of single family homes. Fear-mongering housing policy is lazy & harmful.

- Y’all we passed middle housing in Washington State!!!!!🎉🎉🎉🎊🎊🎊🥳🥳🍾🍾🍾👏👏👏👏#Homes4WA
- Very excited to see the House pass HB 2252 unanimously! This allows small businesses in residential zones, which will help our communities create livable, walkable neighborhoods!🏘️☕️🚴♀️ @Sightline @UrbanistOrg
- Replying to @AOC and @JonGiftosMDIt’s also one of the reasons we aren’t seeing affordable housing being acted on with urgency. The majority of electeds can’t relate and their policy priorities reflect it.
- It’s time to legalize low-impact, affordable housing options in WA state. Our housing crisis requires a statewide response & allowing duplexes, triplexes & quads is a common sense solution.
- State could make it legal for property owners to build modest home types like duplexes & fouplexes - Fixed it for you @KIRO7Seattle
- HB 1110 just passed out of Appropriations with all Dems voting yes, plus 5 Rs!!! The bill now goes to Rules, & then the House floor. Thank you to the relentless support from our pro-housing coalition including my colleague @AKB1968. 🙏🏻🥳👏
GIF - We are past denying the simple truth that housing policy is climate policy. Environmental orgs need leadership that embrace this reality & fight for housing & climate justice.
- Proud to have the support of so many of my colleagues (& almost the entire freshman class!) for legalizing middle housing statewide. 🏘️ Half measures will avail us little progress. It’s time for bold change. #Homes4WA
- I’m disappointed to report that I have proposed a striking amendment to my bill 1782.The striker would limit the bill to only allowing up to fourplexes w/in .25 mile of transit. This is a significant reduction of the bills scope, but I need a bill that can pass.
- Let’s get this pro-housing session started! HB 1110 Increasing Middle Housing co-sponsored by Rep. Barkis will legalize fourplexes statewide, provides an affordable density bonus by allowing sixplexes if 2 units are affordable. Also, sixplexes w/in 1/2 mile of transit. @AKB1968
GIF - Actually, when we give property owners more autonomy over what they can do with their property, it’s the opposite of government overreach.
- Unfortunately, HB 1782 was not passed by our 5pm deadline, making #Homes4 dead for this session. 1/7
