    In October ‘17 we took core samples of @IMS to see how the track is weathering freezes, thaws, & heat & how water moves under the surface. Did three more today. It’s the history of this place that makes it special & this 14” tall sample from T4 shows all 113 years! Wow!

    .@IMS history is mesmerizing. Track work 2Day included core samples & brick at bottom of this core was laid 108 years ago almost to the day!

    The @IMS is a special place where friends & families gather to create their own lifetime memories & traditions. Tonight as I left, finding this outside Gate 1 reminded me of just how this place and the 500 is so much more than a race track or an event - even when we can’t open.

    Wear your masks if you’re near Main Street in Speedway or on your porches is Speedway. These cars (and 33 drivers) from @IMS are coming your way soon for a “parade” lap. We called an audible!

    If I didn’t love all race fans, no matter what type of racing they preferred or where they were from, I would say something like “Oregon Football is just like a Walmart @bigten football team.”

    Well, we found real history! A bit over 12 inches below today’s @IMS Turn 2 asphalt is the Original 1909 stone and tar surface!!! So so cool! This place never stops surprising us!

    Now that we’ve learned @RyanJNewman’s injuries are serious but not life-threatening, I can post a happier day photo. Ryan holds a special place in my time at Indy. My first race as president @IMS was the ‘13 BY400 won by Ryan! @indycarter & I joined him in victory lane.

    As the @IMS lights begin to fade on the ‘21 #Indy500, we start the countdown that brings the ‘22 race into focus! These shots (including one with a 22 in it) are gorgeous this evening. And, for the first time since Wednesday, I’m heading home! Thanks fans for a great May!

    Every year since I have been president of @IMS - I’ve taken 45 minutes and watched the #Indy500 from the grandstand with the fans. Today I’ll watch with fans from 16th St outside the gates! #BestWithFans
