    I have no doubt that he's a lovely person and a great teacher. But if an adult putting a hair tie on a child of a different color who's in his care is all it takes to "warm the hearts of millions," we're really not gonna make it.

    Had a conversation with a 2.5 year old and her mom today. Mom: And sometimes we sing songs at bedtime Me to the toddler: Oh, what songs do you sing at bedtime? Toddler: Drink the water or I’m taking it away

    There’s so much talk on here about child-free people who hate kids, it’s easy to forget that a LOT of parents appear to strongly dislike their own children

    On my flight my seat mate asked what I did I said I was in journalism. He asked for more details. I said I do an advice column for an online magazine. He said oh like Slate's Dear Prudence. I said THAT'S ME. He was like😵 It was honestly so exciting.

    Who at NPR will volunteer to tell my 74-year-old mother who just got over breast cancer that yes, it's worse than a flu & she doesn't need to be going to book clubs all over town & water aerobics & Costco for no reason? She won't listen to me but she'll listen to you. Only you.
