- i know people are still talking about #theslap, but biden released his budget for fiscal year 2022 this morning and, in it, he's requesting that congress *increase* the existing $813 BILLION military budget by $31 billion. 😵💫
- my dissertation advisor never let me use the word “impactful” in my work cause she said it was too vague of a descriptor (“impact how? in what concrete ways? and to whom?” she’d ask) and i’m so glad she did cause now every time i see that word i usually ask the same things LOL.
- academics, is it weird to email a scholar and tell them that you really appreciate their work? is that a thing that people do?
- a lot of academics have never spent any significant amount of time in places where a meal at the olive garden is an event, and it shows.
- i find myself saying “whatever that means” at least 9-10x a day bc people really just be putting words together without saying anything! 🫠
