After my son found out yesterday that childbirth was quite the risk & life threatening for mother & baby, he shook my hand & said "congrats to both us, we made it. We are both warriors." I haven't stopped breaking out in quiet laughter everytime I think about it. So extra!😂

“Who are you and whom do you love?” — Bhanu Kapil. *PS: I really love how poetry and poets can reset my head. No matter how many times I read this, it always just slices to the heart of things!

Finally got into Shadow and Bone on @netflix today with the public holiday and all. Let me say I. Love. It. I mean I haven’t read the books but I totally enjoyed this. Jesper was my favourite. He’s so cheeky! 😂😂

A huge part of being a poet or even a writer is believing in a piece despite 34 rejections and then eventually finding a home for it. Glory be! 😂

One thing about Stromae? Lyrics! Like listen to his lyrics, the play on words! When he says “Céline, bataire?! A poet!!! ( because juxtapose with célibataire). And pls don’t get me started on Arlette and arrête 😂😂

Her eyes, man. As a woman, seeing the look in her eyes hurt me because I feel like I know how it feels even if I can’t explain it.

Omg this! I’m an African living in Africa and these are supposedly the reasons why we get US election observers, US troops stationed around our countries etc. to preserve democracy. What a disgrace to see this play out in the US. Guess we are all basically shitholes now.

As someone who started writing in their late 30s with no formal qualifications to the fact, my favorite thing is getting other "lay people" to believe they too can write. I mean get all the education you can but don't forget, writing is also about love. Love language, love words.
