    A rare visit from me, purely to share this. You know how the BBC (@bbcpress) implied for years that I hadn't been discriminated against or suffered homophobic abuse while working at @BBCCornwall? Yeah, that wasn't true. Full story on my Insta 👋

    I’ll look both ways before holding hands. While running alone, I’ll wear trainers without rainbow laces in. If I can’t figure you out, I’ll deflect your questions about my personal life. And a thousand other things you’d never know. Because we all still live in fear of this.

    Want to hear something nice? When I came out, I was in a relationship with a guy from Plymouth. As a proud Cornishman, my dad had this reaction. ‘Jack, we love you just the same. But was there really not a SINGLE man on the right side of the Tamar you could have started with?’

    Hi Question Time, As someone in the same organisation as you, what exactly about me do you think would be ‘morally wrong’ for children to learn about? And would you allow the same question if ‘LGBT’ was replaced by another minority? Yours, An increasingly narked colleague.
    Our final question is about learning about relationships at school. #bbcqt

    All my education was spent under Section 28, which made it illegal for my teachers to even *mention* homosexuality. Yet despite being raised in a system in which it was literally unlawful for me to be told about anything other than being straight, I still turned out gay. (1/2)

    ‘I have no problem with people being gay. I just wish they kept it to themselves and didn’t rub my face in it.’ Ever heard that? If so, I have some questions 🤔 {THREAD}

    Do me a favour. On this anniversary of 9/11, go and find out more about Mark Bingham. He’s a hero of Flight 93 - and the world’s largest inclusive rugby tournament is now held in his memory. More people ought to know about him.

    I will never get bored of seeing Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen flinging open these partition doors with the aggression of a serial home invader, one part vampire, one part Captain Hook, slowly advancing on the petrified owners while asking ‘you alright?’

    Alan Turing broke the Nazi codes, and Sally Ride went to space. Leonardo DaVinci painted The Mona Lisa, James Baldwin wrote Another Country, Elton John rocked the world. We’ve served in your armies, taught in your schools, cared in your hospitals. But sure, crack on Joey.

    2018 World Cup: Russia Illegal to say same-sex relationships are normal. 2022 World Cup: Qatar Same-sex activity is punishable by jail. 2034 World Cup: Saudi Arabia Same-sex activities can be punishable by death. Good to see football moving in the right direction, eh.

    I didn’t think this needed saying. But judging from some of emails I’ve been getting recently, apparently it does. So, once more with feeling. Being gay is not ‘an ideology’. Children knowing that gay people exist is ‘not exposing them to harm’. I am not ‘abnormal’.

    I always said I didn’t want to be treated differently because I’m gay. But last night, I had a conversation that made me realise it’s important to acknowledge that what I’ve been through *has* made me different. It helped to talk about it, and it’s helped to write about it.

    I’ve spent 24 hours talking about LGBTQ+ rights and the World Cup across the BBC. And honestly, my inbox/ DMs is a cesspit of abuse. So riddle me this. How come so many people ‘don’t care if you’re gay’ - yet scream you down when you talk about what being gay is actually like?
