- Replying to @MuniraladanSure. It has to do with their chromosomes. Just like any placental mammals, female cats have XX chromosomes and male cats have XY chromosomes. Now the color is determined ONLY by X chromosomes. So the female can have two colours on a coat(background) while the male has one.
