- you can keep the pie, we'll just be eating out of the pan with a fork π
- if "watch for deer" = "I love you" in Midwestern π¦ then "take a hike" = "I care deeply about your personal physical + mental wellness and you're just in general an awesome person, so go enjoy some drama-free time & pick up gas station pizza on your way home" π₯Ύ #TakeAHikeDay
- if you can imagine 500,000 elephants on a scale...π then you can visualize 3 million tons. (that's the amount of trash Iowans put in the landfill EVERY YEAR - and 70% of it could be recycled, reused or composted) #AmericaRecyclesDay β»

- be thankful for the forecast. back on Nov. 11 1940, no one expected a blizzard that dropped temps from the 60s to single digits in just hours - and trapped hunters out following an incredible number of ducks flying through Iowa that day. read more: bit.ly/32clPk4
- state parks and wildlife areas are not pumpkin dumps (it's illegal!) instead: compost give it to a farmer yard waste collection/local pick up and wildlife? their diet's just fine without pumpkin. if you leave them on your property, make sure they're not moldy or rotten.
- Replying to @iowadnrWe've stocked about 4,000 paddlefish in Lake Rathbun. They may be small now but these prehistoric fish can grow to be 5 feet long or more and live 20 to 30 years. Welcome Home!
- Replying to @iowadnrGuess what lived in the river then? Paddlefish! Since April 2023, the DNR's Rathbun Fish Hatchery has been culturing paddlefish. These fish are now 2 feet long. Some also have transmitters to tell us how they grow, how and where they travel, and survival rate.
