There will be other best-on-best tournaments. There must be. And there will be other victories for Team Canada. But given this time and these players, and the threats to our sovereignty, there may never be another victory like this one. 🇨🇦

Lots of emotion in Canucks' room post-game, especially from players who lived through the chaos because they believed in the team. J.T. Miller: "Not any part of me ever wanted to go somewhere else. Why would I want to leave something that I've always been looking for?"

One of the first things Braden Holtby did after signing with Canucks was ask for Thatcher Demko’s phone number. Holtby has to perform, but sounds like he’s going to be good teammate/mentor.

Canuck Nikita Zadorov is a player w/o a country. His courage to criticize Putin last summer means he can’t return to Russia. He is looking for a new home. He said his wife and daughters love Vancouver. At 29, Zadorov wants term and the chance to win.

Air Canada just announced that our flight to Vancouver from Toronto is also the final journey for a Canadian soldier who lost his life serving our country. Reminder that every day people put their lives at risk for us. 🙏🇨🇦

Canucks coach Rick Tocchet reveals rookie callup Arturs Silovs is high-maintenance. The 23 yo has asked for blackout blinds, so he can sleep better. Tocchet: “I’ll do the blackout blinds. Clarkie (goalie coach Ian Clark) can handle the other stuff.”

Brock Boeser never wanted to leave Canucks. Was hurt by how things were handled at the deadline, but follows his heart to stay in Vancouver when team circled back. Huge morning for team — resigning its own players who want to stay.

Laurie Boeser, Brock’s mom: “A few of the boys went over to the grave today, which Brock would have done. There is a purpose and a meaning when he’s out there playing hockey. He appreciates his opportunity to be a pro, but he also knows he’s playing for others, too.”

People are angry at Adam Gaudette for getting COVID? Really? Travis Hamonic’s daughter, Charlie, spent a week in hospital with a serious respiratory illness. And now her dad has COVID. These are human beings. They deserve some humanity.

Just so I understand this, Corey Perry, denouncer of NHL officiating, advocate for the stars, throws Quinn Hughes on his head without accountability. And is praised for his savvy by those wailing about the treatment of McDavid, and is a hero in Edmonton? Fair enough.

J.T. Miller last May, after Canucks beat Predators: “Not any part of me ever wanted to go somewhere else. You don't have Pettersen and Hughes and Demko everywhere, you don't have Jim Rutherford and Patrik Allvin and Rick Tocchet and Adam Foote. Why would I want to leave?"

OK, I hope this is my last post about officiating, but always amazes me the four guys will huddle for 2 mins to talk about a puck over glass but nobody sees Hughes get hacked on the forehead by McDavid.

Agent Pat Brisson on Quinn Hughes: "It's not in his DNA to back out of anything. It was so hard for him to make that decision... but he just feels responsible as captain of the Canucks to be the best he can be for his team. His level of maturity is unmatched for a 25 yo."

Canucks could use some of their leadership.
