if you're thinking of freelancing right now — as @gardener_nyc i charge between $2-300/hr to do development work (10+ yrs exp). i charge per project & estimate hours, so my *actual* rate changes. i can't stomach charging more hourly, but often i beat the clock & make more...

this has been my #1 piece of advice for pricing: increase them to the point where you can say yes more often than you have to say no. have clear boundaries from the beginning, and price high enough to give a few "freebie" fixes. they'll remember you as kind, flexible, and human
