Althea is reading: 🧵 1. I Who Have Never Known Men ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 This book is beautifully written and thoroughly despondent. Made me cry toward the end. The author being a Jewish woman in WWII undeniably informed the themes in this book. It broke me yet gave me hope. LOVED!

The calling of Christians is to be Christ-like, not Paul-like. A lot of what Paul said were his own opinion, and apostle or not, Paul was a man. A human being. And human beings are fallible. Also, his letters were to churches, not a rule all Christians must follow. 1/2
Christian feminists, I have a sincere question I’d appreciate your perspective on. I'm not trying to stir up controversy, I genuinely want to understand, based on recurring discussions I’ve seen around faith and gender roles. How do you interpret Ephesians 5:22–24, which says:

Christ treated women well and honored them. Never demanded they submit to anyone other than God. Want to know how to deal with women in marriage? Look to your Lord and Savior and his commandments. According to Christianity, he is, after all, the creator of the marital institution

I be seeing them blaming affirmative action and I'm like "Consider some other scenario — like quotas were reached or... you just weren't good enough".

Wahala for poor man and him pikin o. So if you criticize classist takes from classed people, it's because you're poor and have a limited worldview. Oya nau.
It’s extremely wicked and they think it’s fine because they’re women of means so they have the right to be rude and insulting to them. Because someone being richer then you and having a wider worldview than yours gives you the right to insult them

I just asked my highest-paying client for a raise... and they agreed. In two minutes. They also said they I'm "one of our best writers" 😭 It's the first time I ever worked up the courage to ask for a raise. And it worked out fine! Here's your sign to ask for that raise 🥂

I do think that a great many women hate on other women, even their friends. It's why you hear women say they prefer having male friends. But women live in perpetual fear of being killed randomly by men — and that's for a good reason. I don't think the two can be equated at all.

This inane shrinking of the self is never required of the man. Ever. As a woman, by culture's tenets, being yourself, fully and wholly, is anathema. It is heartbreaking, to say the least, that even accomplished women refuse to rise beyond it. Be yourself. Wherever you are.
    Come and hear something.
