We'd get in the car and he'd start doing his homework (if he had any, which he always tried not to.) Did not get straight A's because he couldn't be arsed. Maybe he had a 3.9 or so GPA? National Merit. Took almost all the AP classes. Was first violin in orchestra. Only AP class he didn't take: AP US History. It was described as "3 hours of homework per night" and he was like "no WAY am I doing that." Took the regular US history class, then took the AP exam at the end of the year anyway. He got a 5. ... As I type it all out it looks like made up BS for the protagonist of a YA novel, but I watched it all happen with my own eyes.
