Eloquent and heartbreaking. From Harvard Law Professor Mark Ramseyer's email to a Harvard list (with permission). I came for my PhD in '99, he came as a prof in '98. We were each publicly attacked for our views in '21.

- Seems like a good time to re-post my older (now edited) post about athletes with XY DSDs (Disorder, or Difference of Sex Development). Lots of graphs and detail about the relevant biology at the end. * * * First: People living with DSDs
- 🧵1/2 The Guardian columnist who wrote yesterday's op-ed about Trump's executive order reached out to me Friday morning for some "expert commentary." TLDR: I provided her with plenty of scientific evidence/argument/detailed commentary in answer to her questions about Trump's
- I posted yesterday about 5-ARD, a disorder (or difference) of sex development. I don't think anything I've posted here has ever received more attention (millions of views, over 10K likes, and rising, media inquiries, which I've turned down). First: why didn't I mention that I
- Caster Semenya has won a recent ruling. Caster has a Difference (or Disorder) of Sex Development (DSD), and the press has been misleading the public for a long time about about athletes with DSDs. People with DSDs deserve compassion and to live their lives free of harassment,
- We evolutionary biologists (@SwipeWright , @Evolutionistrue , @FondOfBeetles and others) are fascinated by the immense diversity in body and behavior of male and female organisms. We also understand that mammals come in two sexes, male and female, and that these are reproductive
- I appreciate your concerns. Could you let me (and the Twitterverse) know exactly what I said that you consider transphobic or harmful to undergrads? I think you know that I care deeply about all of my students, and I also care about science. How about a discussion? @HarvardHEBAs the Director of the Diversity and Inclusion Task Force for my dept @HarvardHEB, I am appalled and frustrated by the transphobic and harmful remarks made by a member of my dept in this interview with Fox and Friends: video.foxnews.com/v/626558050500… #medtwitter
- "No sex please, we're anthropologists." Apparently, talk of sex is dangerous & harmful to anthropologists. A panel I was slated to participate in, at the annual meeting of @AmericanAnthro, was just cancelled. See the cancellation letter, & our response. 👇🏽 @eweissunburied
- 🧵1/4 A Harvard professor has just published a glowing review of Yale Professor Agustín Fuentes’ new book, Sex is a Spectrum, in The Lancet—one of the highest-ranked, most prestigious medical journals in the world. In it, she asserts that the “gametic definition” of sex—roughly,
- Replying to @hoovlet2/2 MY FIRST RESPONSE From: Hooven, Carole Kennedy Date: Friday, January 24, 2025 at 11:24 AM To: Arwa Subject: Re: press request - the guardian - would need comment by 3:30pm EST Good afternoon Arwa— A few thoughts right off the bat, and then I’ll get back to you withReplying to @trinnasThis is a great question. The reason people say that is because more has to go right in fetal development to develop male-typical internal and external genitalia, and to develop a "masculinized" brain. Although the female *sex* is not default, because 50% of fetuses are male
- I want to be clear that @Harvard did not fire me. They did not "remove me" from my position. Another person in the same situation might have stayed on, but I could not. The fact is that I did not feel that I could do my job any longer, and I did feel pushed out; but that is not“In what world is a call for violence against Jews protected speech, but a belief that sex is biological and binary isn’t?” Citing @BillAckman, @RepWalberg asks @Harvard President Claudine Gay about @hoovlet and Tyler Vanderweele, but she has nothing to say about them:
00:00 - Replying to @hoovletI could have sworn I included the graphs! Sorry. Here they are.
- This is excellent. Doriane Coleman is clear, thorough, and authoritative, as usual. “A primer on the underlying facts so that readers can follow the story as it unfolds and understand its historical, medical context."
- So women like @serenawilliams are being “kept small.” Try harder to beat A. Murray! It’s activism cloaked in sciency words, omitting engagement w/ or distorting relevant evidence. Sex is real, as are effects of testosterone on strength & power. In reality, this does matter.
