Running startups is hard. Running startups in a pandemic is harder. Running startups in a pandemic, wildfires and time of Nationwide tension is hardest. Be kind to your founders, Twitter. In fact, just be kind in general--it's better.
This is a great time to build. It's quiet and everyone who isn't really into start-ups is leaving - that includes VCs who never really should have been working in a space. If you're a founder now, this is the time. It's harder, but you will build something rock solid.
Many of my VC friends sharing their excitement for the "repricing" occurring. Repricing is not free. Founders fired, jobs lost, investor capital lost, companies dying. Yes we need a change, but respect the people behind the numbers. Lend a hand instead of doing a victory lap.
The internet is the true public townsquare. Anyone can post a site and the public can decide to listen. You canβt be blocked. Twitter and Facebook are bars. You can chat, get loud and have heated conversations. But the bartender reserves the right to kick people out.
So many VCs are becoming, or building media properties to drive top of funnel and brand. This is creating a strong opening for 'quieter' operating VCs/angels that are relentlessly focused on creating value for their portfolio versus spending time on top of funnel. The thesis
Would love it if the cancellation penalty on @Uber was mutual. If a driver makes you wait for 5m and the cancels they should credit your account. Respect for time is a two way street. #productrequest
