- My response to the many constituents who have written to me over the long weekend about #DominicCummings
- Sickened by @ITV reports that Zimbabwe’s security forces have raped civilians during their violent crackdown. Sexual violence is an atrocity and who is commanding these forces? The UK urges @edmnangagwa to ensure these perpetrators are brought to justice. #Zimbabwe
- Today in #Kigali #Rwanda 🇷🇼 I visited Hope Hostel to see for myself the accommodation being provided to those the @ukhomeoffice is trying to remove from the UK 🇬🇧
00:00 - #Zimbabwe It is essential that Zimbabwe 🇿🇼 upholds the rule of law and human rights. We are watching closely in Harare how cases against opposition MPs and human rights defenders are progressing, including attending court hearings.
- When Labour taxed the wealthiest at a rate of 80% during the 1970s, they simply left the country and hence paid only 11% of all income tax. Today the richest 1% pay 29% of all income tax. Your plans, @jeremycorbyn will HURT the many. When the billionaire-bought Conservatives give tax breaks for the super-rich and cut services for the rest of us, why don’t the media call it what it is? The 1% waging war on the 99%.
- Great to meet President @edmnangagwa and hear about plans for economic and political reform and free and fair elections in 2018🇿🇼🇬🇧
- I spoke to @nelsonchamisa and @MinisterSBMoyo today, urging all parties in #Zimbabwe to call for calm while challenges to the election result are considered. #UK extremely concerned by violence & human rights violations. We call for Zimbabwe security forces to act with restraint.
- Labour before the election: “Growth will magically pay for everything.” Labour after the election: “Here’s a 22% pay rise junior doctors and we’ll choose to pay for it by cutting money from vulnerable 90-year-olds on low incomes.” A chilling political choice.
- I thought it in July and I still think it now. To win a majority in 2024 we need a unifying candidate who can win against @UKLabour - and that person is @PennyMordaunt #PM4PM
- Just spoken to Zimbabwean Ambassador regarding this week’s protests in Zimbabwe. Worrying levels of violence - urged restraint from security forces and the need to restore internet access.
- Wow! Did you know that the UK 🇬🇧 has cut CO2 emissions more than any other country since 2010? More to do but we are on a path to Clean Energy Security
