From Monday 3 February we will no longer be posting regularly on our X (formerly Twitter) account. Use of X is declining, and there are concerns about the lack of monitoring and regulation on the platform so we have decided to stop posting.
Tonight, and for the next few days, Bottle Alley lights will be purple in memory of George Floyd and to show the council’s support for the #BlackLivesMatter movement.
Our priority is keeping residents safe. Hastings has one of the lowest infection rates in England and we want to keep it that way, so for now our message to visitors is: Hastings is closed!

We're delighted to announce that Alexandra Park, St Leonards Gardens and Hastings Country Park are among sites that have been awarded best in Britain by the Green Flag Awards.
Tonight the lights in Bottle Alley will be going green to celebrate.
As a council we are not mowing quieter areas of our green spaces, and letting the wild flowers flourish to benefit the wildlife. These areas will be cut later in the year when flower heads have gone to seed.
We are flying the Ukrainian flag outside the Town Hall to show solidarity and our support to the country of Ukraine.
We are grateful to have people from different nationalities who call Hastings their home, many of them are personally impacted by the invasion of Ukraine.
We are delighted that the East Hill Lift has reopened following refurbishment work.
The lift will be open daily from 11am to 4pm during the October half term and will also be open at weekends, 11am to 4pm, throughout the winter season (until 1 March 2024).
A nightly programme is now running at 6.30pm at Bottle Alley, extended programme on Friday evenings. Come see the different lighting effects and colours! As spring arrives, the time for the light show will shift forward to meet dusk. #Bottlealley
Today we are remembering the huge contribution made to our town by former Council Leader Jeremy Birch, who died 5 years ago today. Jeremy served the town for 17 years, and led the Council for a total of 13 years until his death in 2015.
