So funny that twenty years later, Hayao Miyazaki again wins an Oscar and no shows the presentation. Last time he wasn’t there in protest of America’s criminal invasion of Iraq, wonder why he skipped this one

In the documentary I Know That Voice, Kevin Conroy tells this unforgettable story about working at a food relief station in Manhattan in the days after 9/11. It’s one of my favorite stories he told about the power of his talents. Rest In Peace Mr. Conroy

Venture Bros never gets enough credit for its absolute brilliance. In the second season that aired in lat 2006, the VB creators were aware that “Scooby-Doo adult parody” was pretty played out so they had the genius idea of making them all analogues for 1970s criminal figures

Thinking about how Spider-Man 2 is about Peter Parker being desperately poor & Aunt May failing to stop the bank from foreclosing on her home, and that MCU is about Peter happily inheriting a billionaire’s fortune & Aunt May became a well-paid philanthropist

It is pretty bonkers that social media dorks want to be all “um, actually Cartoon Network isn’t dead, it’s still a channel on TV!” Meanwhile all the artists (see below) who used to be employed at CN Studios keep confirming endlessly that it is over in all the ways that matter
Never forget what endless, unchecked corporate greed via two back-to-back mergers took from you #RIPCartoonNetwork

Kiki’s Delivery Service is an underrated Labor Day watch. Not only is it about the pains of turning a passion into a career, but it’s also about valuing your labor as worth money. There’s this great moment where Kiki turns down payment for a small job, then Osono insists:

In A Christmas Carol, Scrooge merely threatens to fire his one employee before the holidays. Even Ebenezer couldn’t fathom doing something so heartless and cruel as doing that to 1100 people in an extremely successful company

This scene rules on its own, but it's even more impressive when you know that for most scenes with Audrey II they filmed at 12 or 16 frames per second. That meant Rick Moranis and the puppeteers had to perform at like half speed in choreography that'd look natural when sped up
